Project Description

Constructed for ADL Developments, these buildings provide accommodation for the Nuns who live and work in the monastery grounds. Both timber-frame buildings are built to a Passivhaus principal specification.

Features

  • Construction was challenging due to the locations of the existing buildings in the monastery grounds, so care and attention to detail was of the upmost importance in order to avoid disrupting everyday life throughout the monastery.

Tech spec

  • Passivhaus principal specification buildings.

  • Walls constructed using 300mm Masonite ibeams, internally clad with Propassiv air and vapour tight board. Externally clad using 22mm Gutex Multiplex Top insulating wood fibre board. Walls filled with 300mm Isofloc cellulose insulation.

  • Roof constructed using 300mm timber ibeams, internally clad with Propassiv air and vapour tight board and externally clad using 22mm Gutex Multiplex Top insulating wood fibre board. The roof is filled with 300mm Isofloc cellulose insulation.
